Player Guide

What to know before playing Narinig Mo Ba?

Narinig Mo Ba? is a story-driven psychological horror game disguised as a cozy sari-sari store simulator, made by the student team VC Studios for Game Jam Los Baños 2026. You run a small Filipino neighborhood store, serve regulars, pick dialogue responses and listen to gossip that slowly stops being harmless. This page answers the questions players ask before their first shift — no story spoilers beyond what the official description reveals.

A cozy store sim with a darker purpose

The official pitch for Narinig Mo Ba? is psychological horror hiding inside a cozy management loop. You are the tindera — the storekeeper — behind the counter of a sari-sari store. Restocking shelves, handing over items and chatting with customers is the entire surface of the game, and that ordinariness is the point. The store stays warm and familiar while the conversations drifting across the counter turn slowly unsettling.

How a shift works

Each day in Narinig Mo Ba? follows the same gentle rhythm: a regular walks in, asks for something, and talks while you find it. Early requests are simple errands — the community-documented first task is Junjun asking for a stick of coffee. Read the request, find the item on the shelf, confirm the price and hand it over. The loop is deliberately easy; the game wants your attention on the dialogue, not on the inventory.

Controls and item handling

Narinig Mo Ba? is built for mouse-first play on PC. Community-documented controls: left click to take or drop a shelf item, right click to check its price, and hold left click to put a picked-up item back. The game moves between the shelf view and the counter view, so pause and check which side of the store you are on before clicking. Touch support exists but is not complete — VC Studios says full mobile controls are on the way.

Why the dialogue matters

Conversations are not flavor text - they are the game. You choose responses while regulars gossip, complain and hint at things happening behind closed doors. The official description promises "a tragic, whispered truth" pieced together from what the neighborhood lets slip. There is no confirmed flowchart of which responses change the ending, so on a first playthrough, read everything and answer the way you actually would.

Playtime, platforms and price

The post-game-jam release from July 26, 2026 runs in the browser as an official HTML5 build and as native downloads for Windows, macOS and Linux on both x86_64 and ARM. Expect one to two hours for a full playthrough. The browser build can lag on weaker hardware, so use the downloadable version if the embedded player stutters.

Where to play it safely

The developers warn that impersonator sites have appeared since the game went viral. The only safe way to play or download Narinig Mo Ba? is the official itch.io page by doppie and the VC Studios team. The player on this wiki loads that same official build straight from itch.io — nothing is re-hosted or modified here.
